Hidden Pisa Bike Tour along the Aqueduct to Calci
4h 30m
Easy
Cycle through Val Graziosa countryside on quiet roads and white gravel paths, discovering olive groves, historic aqueducts and the Certosa di Calci.
DESCRIPTION
Leaving Pisa behind, you’ll ride through peaceful countryside landscapes, following sections of the historic Medici Aqueduct that once supplied water to the city.
The tour leads to Calci, once known as the village of a hundred mills, nestled at the foot of the Monti Pisani. Here you’ll find the impressive Charterhouse of Calci (Certosa di Calci), one of Italy’s most important Carthusian monasteries, today home to the Natural History Museum.
Calci lies along the Olive Oil Road of the Monti Pisani, an area famous for its IGP Tuscan extra virgin olive oil. Along the route, you may choose to stop at Lago dei Cavalieri, where it’s possible to taste local wines and traditional products in a relaxed countryside setting.
This tour is ideal for discovering hidden Pisa, combining landscapes, history and local flavors in a slow and enjoyable cycling experience.
Book your bike tour along the Medici Aqueduct and explore Pisa’s countryside at your own pace.
