This route is located next to the city centre, along the river Arno. It was the old beach of the town, where it was possible to make a stop with boats and bathe on the river.
Now it’s not advised anymore to bathe, but to cycle there is a very fresh and pleasant route.
The route is about 2 km and there are lime-tree, laurels and beeches.
In the first part of the itinerary there is the Church of San Martino degli Scalzi, from the order of Benedectin called “barefoot” (scalzi) that for many years had a Convent there.
The Church in the Romanic style of Pisa, it also has a bell-tower leaning to the river Arno! Have a look of it, you will see that in Pisa not only the tower in the Piazza dei Miracoli is leaning!
